The music program at First Congregational Church, Bakersfield is a Spirit-driven component of our worship and mission. All ages and talents are encouraged to participate!
The Chancel Choir meets Sundays at 8:30am (except the 2nd Sunday of the month) in the Sanctuary and the 2nd Thursday of the month in the Chapel to prepare music for the weekly worship service.
The Rhapsody Ringers is our premiere handbell ensemble that provides beautiful instrumental music once a month. They rehearse every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Huber Chapel.
Music specifically geared for children and youth begins during our children and youth programming; they even share some of it during worship on special occasions!
Our collaborative musician Liz Cervantes stirs spiritual passions using our wonderful organ and piano accompanying hymns and instrumental interludes weekly. Recently, a set of chimes was purchased and has been integral in our worship ever since.
Special Events for the music program include the Choir's Christmas Cantata, Children's Christmas Pageant, Christmas Eve Service, Spring Ring, Easter Sunday, and Music Appreciation Sunday.
We love extending our church's wide welcome to musical groups in the local and broader community. Soloists to chamber musicians to large choirs have used our spaces to share their beautiful music and message.
